As a Tradie Athlete, it’s important to understand the effects the work you do has on your body. Knowing how to properly take care of yourself before, during and after work makes a huge difference to your wellbeing.
Nutrition - Tradie Athlete Fuel
What we put in our mouths each day has a huge effect on health and energy levels throughout the day. The messages in the popular press are confusing.
What diet is best for me? - low fat, high fat (ketogenic), Paleo, clean eating?
At Tradie Athlete we simply do this by asking:
Do I have sufficient energy at work and after work?
Am I in control of my blood sugar?
Do I need to be using my own body as a fuel source?
Movement - Tradie Athlete Movement
As Tradie Athletes we operate at an average heart rate of 110 beats per minute over the work day. Depending on our trade we walk, climb, carry, bend over, crouch, and hold objects overhead.
Tradie Athlete Move looks at how athletes typically move their bodies and applies general rules across trades with trade specific recovery exercises for the end of each day.
Recovery - Tradie Athlete Recovery
Post work day recovery is essential for being able to back up again the following day. Just like a Tour de France rider has to climb back on the bike the day after a hard stage.
Tradie Athlete Recovery identifies the key things you can do to be able to be at your best across your work week.
Stress
Although we are no longer being hunted by lions we still experience chronic stress in our lives. The Tradie Athlete stress workshop looks at how stress affects our bodies, and strategies to help manage our own stress and the stress of our team around us.
